Adopted by the Council of Bishops of the Old Roman Catholic Church in North America, May 18, 1996 and Revised June 5, 1998 There are two components to Vocation Development: education and formation. To accomplish the latter, the Council of Bishops adopts the Residential Program of Formation. This program includes, but is not limited to, the following components/characteristics: 1. The Candidate's Diocesan Bishop will appoint a Director of Formation. It shall be the primary responsibility of the Director of Formation to serve as mentor and spiritual director to those in formation. 2. The Director of Formation will guide the Candidate's experience in: A. Liturgical Prayer 3. The nature of the Candidate's participation and the duration of the individual program shall be determined by the Director of Formation in collaboration with the Candidate, subject to approval by the Candidate's Bishop. 4. The program shall require a minimum of six days residency per month. 5. The following texts shall be used as core components of formation and spirituality: The writings of St. Augustine, especially his Confessions; The Imitation of Christ; The Pensees of Blase Paschal; Ruusbroec and His Mysticism (Blessed John Ruusbroec); Erasmus, especially his Handbook of the Militant Christian. |
